Size

If you think SLR camera only comes with big sized then you're wrong.Digital SLR camera do have a smaller sized which make the ideal travel companion. It is so convenient to bring anywhere you go and you won't be wind up with neck or strain or hand cramps by carrying around all day long.Small sized cameras are also a good option if you travel in regions where you don't have everyone around you aware that you're carrying an $800 camera. You can even slip a camera into a smaller shoulder or waist pack without anyone noticing you carrying a high-end digital SLR.

Lenses and Batteries

Before you begin to compare small sized digital SLR cameras, note these two points:

1.
Weight is included by the battery

2.
Size and weight is included by lens

Batteries don't add huge amounts of weight to the camera because some manufactures have gone to great lengths to keep battery weight at a minimum.Lenses are an entirely different story when you come to comparing it with the batteries.Lenses has a huge variation in the size and weight and your selection here will vastly affect the portability of your camera.

Size Doesn't Fit All?

If you like the idea of having a small sized digital SLR,I advised you to hold one in your hands before you make a purchase.Want to know why?Because small sized cameras are not always easy to use or hold by people who have large hands.Since cameras are so compact,a lot of the buttons and key camera controls wind up right under your fingers. One of my friend whom has used several small sized digital SLR cameras found it quite easy to change camera settings without realizing it.While i recommend that you try any digital SLR before purchase it especially important with a small camera to make sure it's the right fit for your hand.
